“Not That” was an editorial design project focused on the familiarization with InDesign functions and book binding. Subject matter was chosen by the students.
This project became a brief and simple introduction to the complexities of sacred geometry and the concept of Maya - which is a fundamental concept in Hindu philosophy translating to “not that” in reference to magic, dreams, and illusions. The premise touches on duality and egocentrism being a cosmic illusion, and furthermore, preventing individuals from experiencing what truly matters in life. Both esoteric topics are built on the foundation of personal alchemy.
The design focus was to bridge the two topics by concisely introducing the Platonic solids through spatial order, geometric shapes, and photographic visuals which represent the elements. As a designer, my goal was to take an expansive subject matter and condense it into a format that was easily read and understood.
All content is original: photographs, research, writing, and binding process.
